The Gospel

Why Do I Need to Be Saved?

"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

One must first understand the VERY BAD NEWS that accompanies the Gospel to understand the VERY GOOD NEWS that IS the Gospel. That is to understand that each and every one of us has failed to keep God's standards of righteousness as outlined throughout His Word and in the Ten Commandments. God's Word informs us that if we have broken even one of these, we are guilty of breaking them all. This means that we are all liars, thieves, blasphemers, and adulterers. We have failed to keep God first and foremost and have served the idols of lust, pride, and self-interest.  We have refused to love God with our entire being and our neighbor as ourselves. We are guilty,  justly condemned, and incapable of redeeming ourselves. (Exodus 20; Ephesians 2; James 2) We are sinners in the hands of a justly angry God.

Now for the Good News..

What must I do then?

Repent and believe!

Mark 1:15

God sent Jesus, his only Son and the only mediator between God and man, to take on the likeness of man for the sole purpose of paying the debt of our sins. Only Jesus could do this because only Jesus was sinless and holy. His death on the cross enables those who believe on him, to be restored to a right relationship with God. Ephesians 2:8 says, “By grace are ye saved through faith…” This part of the Gospel message would not be complete if not for the resurrection of Jesus on the third day and it is through the power of the resurrection of Jesus that we can stand justified in front of a holy God! (Romans 4:25)

This is AMAZING GRACE, this is the GOSPEL!
